Live@Rockol: watch Europe perform an acoustic version of 'The final countdown'

The 80s' are long gone, but the music from that period is still strong. Even if the bands that became famous have moved on. Take Europe: they were Sweden metal-pop sensation, and their "The final countdown" can be easily recognized as one of the anthem songs of that period. It still gets played nowadays in the final seconds of large sports events to fire up the crowd, or on retro-sounding radio stations.

Europe disbanded and came back ad the beginning of the decade, returning to their roots: a straight forward hard-rock, far from the sound and the look that made them famous. They just released "Bag of bones”, fourth album since their reunion, produced by veteran Kevin Shirley (Iron Maiden e Journey). Joey Tempest and John Norum stopped by our office to chat about the album and play a couple of songs: we could not resist e asked the duo to perform their classic song, and they offered this beautiful, stripped down version of "The final countdown".
