Flea debuts as solo artist, with Patti Smith on vocals

 "Helen Burns" is the title of Flea's debut as a solo artist. The Red Hot Chili Peppers' bassist announced the release of the charity EP with a series of post on Twitter: "i am putting out an ep i made by myself in a couple of days. it is obscure arty mostly instrumental music, except when patti smith sings. My ep is called helen burns, all proceeds from my helen burns ep will go towards the silverlake conservatory of music, it will be available for down load at any price you want to pay, it will be a donation to the silverlake conservatory of music.will also be vinyl, which i will autograph, and inside will be a piece of a bass string that i have played in concert 75 dollars for that".

 

Red Hot Chili Peppers, in the meantime, plan to release 18 new songs on nine 7" vinyl singles in the forthcoming weeks, beginning august 11th with "Strange man" and "Long progression". "Magpies" and "Victorian machinery" will be released on September 11, with new singles coming every month. All the tracks were recorded between 2010 and 2011 during the recording sessions for the band's last studio album "I'm With You". The band is currently on tour in Europe: they recently released an ep featuring cover songs, to celebrate their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, including the Ramones' "Havana Affair", Iggy and the Stooges' "Search and Destroy", Neil Young's "Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere", David Bowie's "Suffragette City", The Beach Boys' "I Get Around" and Dion and the Belmonts' "A Teenager In Love" - according to Rolling Stone.
