The first Music Industry Conference (MIC) 2012 in Taiwan

Taipei on November 8-11 was the scenario of the first annual Music Industry Conference, Taiwan - an event focused on capitalizing on the greater China market (The People's Republic, Hong Kong and Taiwan), exporting Asian music to the West, and finding routes for collaboration.

Peter Jenner (who managed Pink Floyd, T Rex, The Clash, Baaba Maal, and Billy Bragg) attended, with the Swedish/Australian songwriting team of Iggy Strange Dahl and Hayden Bell. Canada-based American Mark Berry (producer and founder of the Attack Media Group) also took part with Asia music expert and founder of the digital media firm MusicDish Eric de Fontenay.

Bill Zang, president of the China Music Industry Committee and president of the China Music Copyrights Management Association, explained that there are over 700 million mobile device users in the greater China region and digital music can be monetized focusing on the mainland market. He urged producers, from both the West and the East, to start working on this market.
