Tesco incorporates We7 into Blinkbox

Tesco, following the purchase of digital music service We7 last June, decided to fold the platform into its non-subscription digital film and TV service Blinkbox.
The supermarket chain bought a 91% stake in We7 for £10.8m, as part of its strategy to expand its digital entertainment service after it closed its eight-year-old MP3 download store.

Tesco had acquired an 80% stake in Blinkbox last year will also incorporate its digital book service, Mobcast, under the Blinkbox moniker.

We7, a Spotify competitor, was created in 2007 by Peter Gabriel and Steve Purdham. Gabriel, recently, co-founded CueSongs, a music licensing hub for online and digital media usage.
