The Social Video Report 2012: viewing habits of UK web users

On December 5, Visibility IQ published the results of a study examining the online viewing habits of web users aged between 15 and 64 in the UK. The Social Video Report 2012, was conducted by Entertainment Media Research Ltd., the specialist media and entertainment research company, for Visibility IQ and it is based on interviews with over 2,600 UK subjects aged 15-64.

Among the most interesting data, we see that 78% of UK adults who use the internet watch an online video every week, and personal interest and hobby videos are most popular - watched by more than half of web users every week (54%). People also views videos for other reasons, such as to catch up on latest news stories (48% every week), watch music videos (45%) and movie/book trailers (37%).
Moreover, almost half (46%) of internet users also watch brand related videos every week; in particular, 96% of those who watch product demonstration videos cited purchase consideration as their primary motive and 57% have gone on to purchase an item after seeing it in an online video.
