eMarketer's forecast: US mobile advertisement is growing steadily

According to eMarketer's forecast, mobile advertisement significantly grew from just over $2.6 billion to more than $4 billion in the US, during 2012.
The forecast includes tablet advertising - eMarketer, indeed, does not break that out as a separate category or indicate its percentage contribution.

The total value of the US mobile ad market (comprising all ad formats) will be $4.06 billion this year, according to the company's projections. And it will grow to more than $7 billion next year, reaching $11 billion by 2014.
Google is, without a doubt, the dominant mobile advertising company in the US, with an estimated $2.17 billion in anticipated revenue this year - according to eMarketer. Facebook is the second largest mobile ad revenue generator, with $339.3 million, and Pandora is the third competitor, with $224.8 million.

Despite the jump upward, mobile still represents a small slice of the total ad pie. Just 2.4% of total ad spending in the US will go toward mobile ads in 2012, eMarketer estimates. Mobile is expected to reach an 11% share of total US ad spending by 2016—when it will overtake radio but still be below print.
