Carl Barat is willing to form a new band

Ex Libertines and Dirty Pretty Things Carl Barat is more than willing to ditch his solo career and form a new band. Indeed he released a solo album in 2010 and recorded another one, although says he won't release it while he's on his own.

"I don't want to be a solo artist anymore, I want to get another band together and I want to do that straight away. I've made a record I'm really proud of, but I've worked too hard to just put it out there", he explained.
"I didn’t really enjoy being a solo artist", he added. "When you're in a band I think you have so much more freedom than when you're on your own as a solo musician. There's strength in numbers, basically, and less focus on what you're wearing or doing on stage, so you don't need to second-guess what people's reaction is going to be to every little think you do as a solo artist".

Carl is now looking for a drummer, a bassist and a second guitarist to rehearse; he says he'll post details of how to get in touch on his website, with plans to hold auditions when he's got a shortlist. Probably, with the new band, he'll re-record the unreleased album he's been refusing to release.
