Sting's musical goes to Broadway

Sting's musical, "The last ship" (an adaptation of his latest studio effort, released in 2013), will debut on Broadway newxt autumn. Indeed, according to producer Jeffrey Seller, it will start performances September 30 at the Neil Simon Theatre and Opening night will be on October 26.
"The words are there. The music is there. It's time to get into the room and make the play", stated said Seller. "We look forward to getting to work".
Before getting to Broadway, by the way, "The Last Ship" will make its world première next summer at Chicago's Bank of America Theatre.

The plot tells of a man from a seafaring town who gets back home after 14 years of travelling, to find the shipyard's future in grave danger and his girlfriend engaged to someone else. Sting, who was raised in North-east England, has been working on it for four years.

The musical will star Michael Esper and Rachel Tucker. The cast also includes Jimmy Nail, Aaron Lazar, Sally AnnTriplett, Collin Kelly-Sordelet and Fred Applegate.
