New Jockey Club Live sets credentials as major UK concert promoter

Jockey Club Live, a new UK live-entertainment venture set up at the start of this year to serve thousands of horseracing fans, is officially the country’s sixth largest concert promoter.

The Pollstar ranking follows research at racecourses owned and operated by Jockey Club Racecourses, which showed Jockey Club Live has hosted concerts seen by almost 300,000 music fans already since opening for business this year.

Until Jockey Club Live was launched, the Jockey Club Racecourses used third-party promoters and its live-music events welcomed about 200,000 annually.

Hit acts like Sir Tom Jones (in picture at a Jockey Club concert), Kaiser Chiefs, Beach Boys, Dizzee Rascal, Jessie J and James Blunt have performed at Jockey Club Live gigs.

Jockey Club Racecourses, Britain’s largest racecourse group, owns and operates 15 UK racecourses. Jockey Club Live was launched in January to take the organisation and promotion in-house. It is a joint venture of Jockey Club Racecourses and Live at the Races, a business set up by international entertainment impresarios Andrew Wilkinson and Simon Halden.

“We’ve learned plenty in year one to inform our approach and are already in discussions to attract high-calibre artists for our 2015 roster, which we’ll be able to announce in due course,” commented Wilkinson, Jockey Club Live’s CEO.
