Ja Ja Ja Festival brings back the best in Nordic music to London

Nordic music, food and film come together again for the second outing of the Ja Ja Ja Festival in London on 13-15 November.

Emilíana Torrini, the Icelandic star famous for performing soundtracks on blockbuster epic movie The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, is the festival’s headline act. Showcasing some of the best-selling music talent from Denmark, Iceland, the Faroe Islands, Finland, Norway and Sweden, the festival’s gigs will take place across two London venues: The Lexington on 13-14 November followed by performances at the Great Hall located at Queen Mary University.

In addition to Torrini, whose 2013 acclaimed album Tookah came out via Rough Trade and whose song-writing credits include Grammy-nominated hits, expect to enjoy the sounds of Danish electro-pop band When Saints Go Machine.

Other performers include Swedish singer-songwriter Jenny Wilson, Denmark’s Asbjorn, Norwegian collective Rytmeklubben and Danish rockers Blaue Blume.

The music will be accompanied by high-end Nordic cuisine courtesy of Finnish chef/restaurateur Antto Melasniemi, who also happens to be a former member of popular Finnish rock band HIM.

Screenings will include films from the Nordic Music Video Awards, which made its debut on 31 May and was held at Oslo-based Sentrum Scene.

The Ja Ja Ja Festival is supported by the London embassies for Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and Iceland, the Nordic Culture Fund and the Nordic Council of Ministers’ New Nordic Food.
