Kobalt fosters greater role in music-synch sector with new appointment

Kobalt Music Group has appointed Ed Foster to be the company’s new brand & synchronisation manager.

Foster, whose previous experiences include working with brand-and-music marketing agency FRUKT, will report to Michelle Stoddart, Kobalt’s senior vice president of global creative synchronisation.

He will use his experience and connections to get music created by the roster of artists at Kobalt Label Services (KLS) and Kobalt Music Publishing in advertising and brand-marketing campaigns internationally. He will also collaborate with AWAL, a digital-marketing and distribution unit within KLS.

Upcoming KLS album releases being considered for synch rights include Kings & Queens of the Underground, the seventh studio album from UK punk legend Billy Idol, which is scheduled for release today (20 October).

Among the major brands Foster has worked with in the past are Google, Nando’s and MTV.

“His breadth of experience will help us to engage even more strongly in the synch-and-brand sector, which continues to be an important area for our clients,” said Stoddart in a statement.
