Paolo Nutini joins UK’s best-selling-albums elite in 2014

Sunny Side Up (Atlantic Records), Paolo Nutini’s biggest-selling album to date, has sold more than a landmark of 1.8 million units in the UK across all formats since its release in June 2009.

This gives Sunny Side Up the highly coveted 6-times Platinum certification from the BPI, the UK music industry’s trade organisation. An album needs to have sold more than 300,000 units to qualify for one Platinum.

And only eight albums, released since June 2009, have sold more copies in the UK than Sunny Side Up. They include Adele’s 21, Michael Bublé’s Crazy Love, Take That’s Progress, and Our Version of Events by Emeli Sandé.

Nutini’s current album, Caustic Love, has already sold nearly half a million units since its release in April this year, and is one of the top five hit albums of 2014 so far.
