UK retailer carries music for the first time via Cooking Vinyl/Peter Andre deal

British celebrity Peter Andre (pictured), his managers at CAN Management and UK indie-label group Cooking Vinyl (CV) have sealed a deal that will bring music sale to the British supermarket chain Iceland for the first time.

In the agreement centred on a major sync strategy, Andre’s new Christmas album, White Christmas, will be exclusively sold through Iceland’s chain of more than 800 stores. The album will be released on 11 November.

It also places a new Christmas song from Andre, who is an established singer-songwriter, TV presenter, entrepreneur and reality-TV mainstay, at the heart of the retailer’s big Christmas advertising campaign.

Andre’s single Christmas Time’s For Family, an original song written by him and fellow CV Publishing artist Stevie Appleton, is released on 8 December.

It will be the focus of an integrated campaign, which will see the related commercials aired across all major UK TV channels, plus radio airplay, ahead of the release. As the new face of Iceland, Andre has already been appearing in a series of TV commercials for the company.

He has a successful career in music and TV that includes numerous Top 10 hits (reaching No. 1 many times), two No. 1 albums and many TV projects.

Verity Griffiths, who recently came to Cooking Vinyl as head of sync and was instrumental in clinching the deal with Iceland, says: “The diversity of talent across Cooking Vinyl’s roster means we’re able to offer companies and brands sync that are bespoke for their campaigns.”
