US Tours: George Strait, One Direction and Luke Bryan top 2014 acts on StubHub

StubHub has released the list of its biggest-selling US tours of 2014 and country acts dominates, with stars George Strait and Luke Bryan in first and third place respectively. 

UK boyband One Direction continue do well on the live front (even if their album sales have faltered a little) and are in second position, whilst Justin Timberlake is in fourth. 

George Strait was on his farewell tour, which explains the large crowds in North America - his last show sold over one hundred thousand tickets! 

Country music stars do extremely well in the US and Canada but have a much smaller impact internationally, so Luke Bryan ended up 14th in Billboard’s Top 25 Tours chart (worldwide) whilst George Strait is 16th. 

One Direction, thanks to their extensive worldwide tour, have topped Billboard’s chart with over $290m in sales and almost 3.5 million tickets sold. It’s fair to say that even if the lads were to break up as the latest swirl of rumours seems to indicate, they would have a pretty comfortable retirement.
