LyricFind opens London office and hires Shazam's Will Mills as Chief Revenue Officer

Canadian music lyrics company LyricFind announced the opening of a London office today to further its expansion into Europe and as a spring-board into Asia Pacific. Lyricfind already has partnerships in place with the likes of Amazon, HTC and Microsoft; in December the company announced a deal with Deezer to integrate lyrics into the experience of the streaming music service worldwide.

In addition to the London opening LyricFind has hired Will Mills as Chief Revenue Officer. Mills will move from his position as VP of Music and Content at Shazam after over a decade at the company and is a well-known and respected music industry executive.

LyricFind's CEO, Darryl Ballantyne commented on the hire: “Having worked with Will for years during his time at Shazam, we’ve always known him to be a smart and highly effective executive, and we couldn’t think of anyone better to lead our continued global expansion.”

Given that LyricFind and Shazam have worked together for years, it is unlikely that the hire will create any bad blood between the two companies.

As an aside, at the unveiling of the Apple Watch at this week's keynote Apple showcased the Shazam app including the lyric function which is powered by, you guessed it, LyricFind.
