Proper sees more US distribution progress via Redeye partnership

UK-based Proper Music Distribution, part of the indie distribution venture Proper Music Group, has cemented its credentials across the Atlantic following a new deal with leading US independent distributor Redeye.

The pact, which comes into effect 1 April, covers physical distribution in the UK and Ireland for several Redeye independent label partners.

The first release via this partnership will be for The Embers of Time, the new album from US singer-songwriter Josh Rouse, which is released 6 April on Yep Roc Records (art cover pictured).

Proper is renowned for its long-established distribution know-how, which it is extending into North America.

In addition to Yep Roc Records, which operates a roster that includes acts like Americana singer Dave Alvin, indie folk songstress Aoife O’Donovan, the legendary Tony Joe White, the multi-skilled Robyn Hitchcock, and Josh Rouse; Barsuk Records; Kill Rock Stars; Signature Sounds; Northern Spy and Don Giovanni Records are the Redeye partner labels benefiting from this new approach.

Of the partnership, Glenn Dicker, Redeye’s co-founder, says: “We ask the same questions, have the same responses and hold the same values to be important. Like us, Proper are passionate about all kinds of music and are extremely transparent about their business.”
