Grateful Dead's final shows to be streamed online and broadcast via pay-per-view

As widely reported, legendary psychedelic rockers Grateful Dead will play their last shows ever - with special guest Trey Anastasio - this summer: five concerts booked as the Fare Thee Well. The events will take place in in Santa Clara (California, on June 27 and 28) and Chicago (July 3, 4 and 5).

Tickets almost immediately went sold out, leaving thousands and thousands of fans regretting not to be albe to see their idols for the last time. But there's still a chance to enjoy this goodbye, since the three Chicago gigs will be available to watch live through a pay-per-view broadcast produced by Live Alliance. Moreover, all five shows will also be available via an as-yet-unannounced online streaming platform and from May 1 to 15 Dead 50 will offer a pre-sale to purchase the webcast for all five nights for $79.95.

The pay-per-view event will be hosted by CNBC reporter Steve Liesman and feature special guest host Bill Walton, a Basketball Hall of Famer and perhaps the group's most famous Deadhead.
