Mumford & Sons reveal their boy band origins on "Jimmy Kimmel"

And before Mumford & Sons there were Mumtown.

On their latest album "Wilder Mind" Mumford & Sons dropped the banjo in favor of rock guitars but it turns out that this isn't their first major genre change. On Wednesday's Jimmy Kimmel Live (August 19) the British band were featured in a spoof documentary thet revealed their boy band past. They were called Mumtwon and host Jimmy Kimmel was also a member of the group.

The guys called Kimmel "Mum" because he had a terrible voice. They did, however, let him write their songs, including "Package 4-U" and "O.M.G.U.H.O.T.".

Mumford & Sons are set to headline Reading & Leeds Festival next weekend along with Metallica and The Libertines.
