Tidal reaches 1 million subscribers, announces Tidal X 10/20 charity concert

Jay Z announced that streaming service Tidal reached 1 million subscribers, up from the roughly 700,000 it had at the time of the re-launch.

This is positive new for Tidal, but the figure also highlights how far away the company is from the numbers achieved by Spotify, Apple Music and Deezer.

In addition, Tidal has announced it will be hosting a charity concert called Tidal X 10/20 at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on the 20th of October.

The concert will see Beyoncé, Jay Z and Prince headlining, and will also feature Nicki Minaj, Usher, Lil Wayne, T.I. and Fabulous.

The proceeds of the gig will go to the New World Foundation, a national community foundation that works to strengthen community-based organisations and local leadership, with the goal of building and sustaining inclusive democracy.
