Midem 2016 dates moved to June 3-6

Midem 2016 has announced that it would change its dates from June 7-10 to June 3-6.

The move comes over 8 months before the conference is due to begin and so it is unlikely to affect existing travel arrangements.

MIDEM has not commented specifically on the reason for the move, there are several music events happening around the world in June so it is difficult to speculate on any one particular clash that could have prompted the organisation to re-schedule. In 2014 it was a clash with the Grammy Awards ceremony specifically that had prompted the conference to move by a week.

The conference has released a statement by Jérôme Delhaye, Director of Reed MIDEM’s Entertainment Division: “Midem 2016 will undeniably be the most important gathering of the year for the entire music ecosystem. Given that our aim is to bring together all the key industry players from around the world for this 50th edition, on a date to suit our clients in the Americas, Asia and Africa, as well as across Europe, we felt an adjustment to the dates would better meet this goal.”

This year's 50th edition will be the second to take place in the summer.
