Michael Stipe, Laurie Anderson, Cat Power to perform at David Bowie two night memorial concert

A previously announced David Bowie tribute concert has been reframed as a two-night event - to take place at Carnegie Hall, New York, on March 31 and April 1 at Radio City Music Hall. Originally planned as a concert part of the City Winery founder Michael Dorf’s annual tribute series, it was announced just hours before news of the White Duke’s death surfaced and them, subsequently, the plans changed.

Bowie’s own producer, Tony Visconti, will lead the house band for both concerts. At the moment, confirmed performes for the first night feature The Roots, The Mountain Goats, Cyndi Lauper, Perry Farrell, Jakob Dylan, Robyn Hitchcock, and Heart’s Ann Wilson. The lineup for the second show includes R.E.M. frontman Michael Stipe, Laurie Anderson, Cat Power, Perry, Wilson, and The Polyphonic Spree.

Rumours of Paul McCartney to be on stage have been denied by a spokesperson who said it's just "tabloid speculation"

In the meantime, on Saturday January 16, Arcade Fire and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band will pay tribute to David Bowie with a parade through the streets of New Orleans, as ArcadeFireTube points out. The official Facebook page for the event—which is being called "Pretty Things: A Second Line for Bowie"— instructs attendees to wear their "best Bowie outfit or something more strange".
