Run to the (virtual) hills: Eddie’s coming to your phone

Iron Maiden are set to release a mobile role-playing game called “Iron Maiden: Legacy of the Beast”.

The app, available for iOS and Android sometime this summer, will feature the band’s mascot Eddie taking a trip through a number of different worlds inspired by the band’s artworks over the years.

Eddie will be taking on different forms and have unique abilities in each of those worlds, having to battle “a cast of dramatic and engaging characters” drawn from the band’s art.

Obviously, the game’s soundtrack will be made up of Iron Maiden tracks, and will include some previously unreleased live recordings.

The band’s bassist and founding member Steve Harris - who also worked on adapting some of the music to the game - stated: "We always thought Maiden's music and imagery with Eddie could be perfect for gaming and it's something we have been looking at doing again since Ed Hunter in 1999. Now in 2016 it can all be done on a smartphone which makes it even more accessible for all our fans and also all the gamers out there.”

The game was developed by Roadhouse Interactive, responsible for games such as Warhammer 40,000: Carnage and Food Battle: The Game for Youtube.

Iron Maiden continue to be one of the most successful live acts in the world, and their fans are sure to jump at the opportunity to interact with the beloved Eddie.
