Vinyl platform QRATES launches “Store Delivery” wholesale marketplace

Vinyl record funding platform QRATES has launched a new “Store Delivery” feature today, allowing artists and labels to distribute their vinyl directly to a network of music stores.

QRATES made its debut in April 2015 as a way for artists to crowdfund their vinyl records, organising the pressing and shipping on their behalf.

The new feature enables stores to participate in an artist’s vinyl funding campaign directly, whilst eliminating inventory risk and putting the artist in control of wholesale prices.

The Store Delivery program includes a separate back-end accessible only to stores, and the company has already partnered with 200 shops in Japan and Europe, including Jetset, HMV Record Shop, Technique in Japan and Juno Records. The company plans expand the partnership pool significantly to up to 1000 stores by 2018.

QRATES promises to hep streamline a process that is still complicated, expensive and stressful for both artists and spall independent labels, whilst enabling stores to easily stock and sell vinyl records of artists they love, without having to rely on the artists themselves taking inventory to the store or shipping it.

Vinyl’s continued growth over the past several years shows that the renaissance of the format is not a fad there are opportunities there for companies that can streamline the production and distribution process for artists, fans and record shops.
