Macklemore & Ryan Lewis concert live streamed by Amazon.com

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis concert live streamed by Amazon.com

Amazon is live streaming an intimate show performed by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis in Seattle to celebrate the release of their new album "The Unruly Mess I've Made" on February 26th.

The stream is in partnership with Amazon Prime Music but it will not require a Prime subscription. Anyone with a PC/Mac and a browser will be able to tune in. The concert is not being advertised on Amazon.com but not on Amazon.co.uk, which could mean that the availability may be restricted to the US. In any case, only real die-hard UK fans would set their alarm clocks at 5AM to get up and watch the show on a Saturday morning.

Amazon specifies that it won’t be possible to view the concert after it has aired, so even fans on the East Coast of the US will have to stay up late as the concert scheduled to start at 9PM PST and 12AM EST.

Amazon is dipping its toes in the live streaming waters, which could signal a wider move into the live TV space sometime in the future. There’s no reason why if the live streaming experiments work well companies like Amazon and Netflix shouldn’t consider running their own music festival coverage or even broadcasting their own live news reports.
