Berklee to present Lucian Grainge, Rita Moreno, Ronald and Ernie Isley and Milton Nascimento with honorary degrees

Berklee College of Music has announced in a press release that it will issue UMG Chairman and CEO Lucian Grainge, EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony) winner Rita Moreno, the Isley Brothers (Ronald and Ernie) and Brazilian legend Milton Nascimento with honorary doctor of music degrees. 

The degrees will be presented at Berklee’s commencement ceremony on the 7th of May at the Agganis Arena at Boston University. 

Moreno is this year’s commencement speaker and will address more than 900 Berklee graduates. The day before the ceremony Berklee students will pay tribute to the recepients with a special concert (closed to the public). 

Past recipients of the honorary degree include some of music’s biggest names such as Aretha Franklin, Duke Ellington, Carole King and Placido Domingo.
