Britney Spears debuts “American Dream” game to great user reviews

A few days ago Britney Spears became the latest celebrity to launch a mobile gaming experience. Britney partnered with Glue, the company that worked with Kim Kardashian on her popular “Hollywood” game, to create “American Dream”.

The player’s objective in the game is to become a star - i.e. follow the American Dream - and Britney Spears is there to help at every step of that journey.

The game is a freemium offering, so it is free to download but users are occasionally prompted to upgrade in order to get extra features and different clothes.

The game includes original Britney music, which seems like a no-brainer, including hits like “Oops!… I did it again” and “Toxic”.

The design is simple, the storyline straightforward and fans seem to be loving it. There are 62 reviews on the UK iOS app store and 5,458 reviews on the Android app store, the vast majority of them award the game a full five stars.

The question now will be whether the game can keep gaining momentum. Amassing as big a user base as possible is key to monetising freemium games since only a fraction of users will ever pay for the “upgraded” content. Here, the age of Britney’s fans (likely no longer under 18) may play in her favour: most of them will actually have a credit card they can use to unlock content where needed.
