Michael Bublé at Apple Music Festival - LIVE REPORT

The first shows by the Canadian singer at the Apple Music Festival 9 months after the vocal cord surgery had the audience shrieking in appreciation and unbelievably quiet.

During the short but sweet (1 hour long) set whether you’re a fan of the Canadian musician you’re sure to be entertained.

A dapper-looking Bublé make his appearance on stage wearing a coat and scattering it on the floor, complaing ‘No one gonna pick the shit up? Everyone’s picking Britney’s shit up”.  We’ll soon find out that Bublé certainly does know how to get an audience going, spilling out cheeky jokes aimed at the crowd, Trump and as well as poking fun at himself.

The production on stage is simple and slick, backed by a full orchestral band, he worked his way through a clutch of classics, like “Me and Mrs. Jones”, “Smile”, “Cry me a river”; these tracks perfectly showcased his smooth, Sinatra-style voice but it was his chart-topping hit “Haven’t Met You Yet” that got a somewhat subdued crowd on their feet.

There’s no highlight from tonight. After the surgery this is a nice warm up for the singer and a pleasant evening for the crowd. Nonetheless, the set - made mainly by covers, is proof that it’s the singer not that song. You don’t have to be into his music to appreciate why and how Michael Bublé has come as far as he has.
