Spotify, Deezer and SoundCloud team-up to found Digital Music Europe

Big news from the European digital music market: indeed, as "Music Ally" writes, the top music-streaming services Spotify, Deezer and SoundCloud are among the founding members of a new coalition called Digital Music Europe, with the aim to represent the European digital music industry in Brussels. Other members are streaming service Qobuz, B2B firm 7digital and music-analytics startup Soundcharts.

Reportedly, the president of this new coalition will be Deezer CEO Hans-Holger Albrecht, while its chairman will be Spotify’s director of EU regulatory affairs Olivia Regnier.

DME's launch announcement explains that the coalition:

[will] showcase and promote the success of the European digital music industry, it will serve as a resource for policy-makers, media and the digital music industry, and will advocate for policies that shape a favourable business environment for digital music.

The DME will focus on lobbying around issues including copyright, geo-blocking, access to online platforms, e-privacy, data transfers, digital contracts and taxation.
