Is Amazon Tickets braking?

According to a report published by live-industry site "Amplify", Amazon might be intentioned to pull back on its plans to sell event tickets in the US.

The report reads:

After a mostly unsuccessful year trying to get its U.S. ticketing platform off the ground, Amazon officials are largely abandoning the effort. The failure to get a deal with Ticketmaster, coupled with the limited opportunities for the company due to Ticketmaster’s venue contracts and exclusivity model, have Amazon quietly shutting down parts of the effort.

Bac in November 2016, recruitment ads for Amazon Tickets in the US started speculations and brought a wave of attention, with reports - at least at the time - suggesting the ads included then deleted the phrase “disrupt the entire live entertainment experience, including what happens before, during and after the show”.

The pullback now is not thought to affect Amazon’s ticketing operation in the UK, although that recently lost its general manager Geraldine Wilson. But the news is a clear sign of how tough the US ticketing market is to break in to for new players.
