Warner/Chappell drops statement about Radiohead vs Lana Del Rey lawsuit reports

The news that Radiohead were - reportedly - suing Lana Del Rey for copyright infringement over similarities between "Creep" and her own "Get Free" quickly spread all over the world. The flame was sparked by a tweet by Del Rey (who is published by Sony/ATV) saying that the band were demanding 100% of the publishing for her track.

On January 10th Radiohead publisher Warner/Chappell dropped a statement denying the lawsuit, but confirming that the band is looking for writing credits.

A spokesperson said:

As Radiohead’s music publisher, it’s true that we’ve been in discussions since August of last year with Lana Del Rey’s representatives.
It’s clear that the verses of "Get Free" use musical elements found in the verses of "Creep" and we’ve requested that this be acknowledged in favour of all writers of "Creep".
To set the record straight, no lawsuit has been issued and Radiohead have not said they “will only accept 100%” of the publishing of "Get Free".
