Spotify up to 87m subscribers and 191m listeners

Streaming giant Spotify published its financial results for the third quarter of 2018; the big news is that it now has 191 million monthly active listeners, including 87 million premium subscribers.

Those figures are up by 28% and 40% respectively year-on-year, and up by 6% and 5% quarter-on-quarter.

The company's revenues grew by 31% year-on-year to €1.35bn (around $1.54bn), while operating loss was cut from €73m a year ago to €6m in Q3 this year.
Spotify recorded a loss before tax of €82m in the quarter, but once a €125m income tax benefit was factored in, it recorded a net profit attributable to the owners of the parent for the quarter of €43m.
