Spotify reaches 1m users in India one week after launch

Streaming coloss Spotify launched in India last week. The company, according to Music Ally, confirmed that a week after launch, it now has more than one million users in India (a figure combining free listeners and paying subscribers - the actual split remains unknown).

Reaching a million subscribers in a week is an impressive milestone, even within the context of the sheer scale of India as a music market. But Spotify's journey to build its business there has just begun. Moreover there's a complicated licensing issue with WMG to be sorted out...
