The Climb

Closed shades but sunlight breaks
Red becomes my vision
Try to remember what I dreamt
But instead I wake in this prison

You do the same routine
Do what everyone is doing
Working five days a week
Just to turn around and go again

Seems when you get ahead
A boil comes to the surface
The toll your body takes
Is it really worth this

For the climb...
For the climb...

Your friends around you leave
Climbing social ladders
Barely have the time to breath
To grow their checkbooks fatter

You never miss a day
Always in before the bell rung
When will be the day
You cut loose and have a little fun

You are the old head now
A nurse shark in this ocean
They'll keep you where you are
And dangle fake promotions

For the climb...
For the climb...

It seems that all the breaks are given to their someones
It always seems to happen but never will for one of us
With every step you take it seems they're always two ahead
They'll work you till you break and turn it into what you dread
With nothing left to lose you focus everything you do
Divide into yourself the ending is only for you

For the climb...
For the climb...
For the climb...
For the climb...
For the climb...
For the climb...
For the climb...
For the climb...
