She's just one of the most powerful vocalists of all time
Not of country, just of all time, I think
Any time Carrie's anywhere I'm like
"Okay good, country's gonna look good tonight
She's gonna have it together, she's gonna be classy
And sing her butt off and so we're good"
Wherever she is, country music looks good

And so, if she would be willing to sing with me
I was like that could be pretty cool
'Cause no, hardly any females collaborate
Especially in our genre, they just don't
And it's been a long time since two females
Have done a duet, ya know?

So I was talkin' to Ted Blake about it
And I was like, "I'd really like to do somethin' with Carrie
I wanna write a song and we could do it acoustic on The Opree
'Bout female country singers and blah-blah-blah"
You know, who's gonna fill our shoes type deal
And he was like, "That, that'd be cool", and-
And then he like said later, "Well, you know-
Just, if you had, I just wanted to tell you
That, you know, it's Carrie Underwood
So you might wanna just keep that in mind, like-
I know the acoustic thing sounds cool and everything but-
If you had Carrie Underwood you should really utilize Carrie Underwood"

And I'm like, "Yeah you're probably right"
You know, basically saying, "You could rock out with her
So don't waste it on sittin' around whinin'
You know on an acoustic guitar"
Like okay, you're probably right about that, so-
I hate it when he's right, so, don't play him this

Um, and, I got this song, uh, 'Somethin' Bad'
And I kinda was thinkin' maybe she'd like it
It seems like a meshing of our styles
You know, of the 'Before He Cheats' Carrie
And, you know, maybe she'd feel like burnin' somethin' up
Or somethin', so I sent it to her and then I get this email
She's like, "Yes! This'd be awesome, let's do it"
And I'm like, "This could ha-, this is actually gonna happen
Like two blonde chicks are gonna sing a rock' 'n' roll song
For country music, this is gonna happen"
