September

The mornings have cooled down, the light is low
The evenings shortening, it's time to go
The wilting, wrinkling of all the new
Is part of the cycle, is part of me and you
(A day in september, marked in my calendar)

So much change came all at once
I need to find my feet, all these colours over me
I'm shedding my old skin
It's been beautiful enough, has protected my insides,
But now I'm bare and I'm not scared of you in wintertime

The world is painted gold, so beautiful
My spirits lifted up with thoughts of you
There's sadness lingering, chin up, my friend
You know it's not goodbye, we'll meet again

I'm being my true self, flowers in bloom
I will not get pushed back by doubt and gloom
The wilting, wrinkling of me and you
Has helped me shed and grow, evolve into
