Downtown - Commentary
I remember the first time we tried Downtown in the rehearsal space
It was, it was one that we were like
Me and Charles were all about it, Hillary was nervous about it
She was a little on the fence about it
'Cause like, I don't know if I can pull this off
But right when we started the groove and you started singing
It was like, oh, there it is, that's what we've been looking for
This has definitely, was a departure for us, but something really fun
And it showed us I think that we can stretch ourselves
And get outside of our comfort zone
And that the fans will dig it
I mean for me it showed, just seeing the success of it
How ready the fans were for something different from us
And so if anything, that's what it showed us
Well, it was just something fun and sassy, and, and, not so serious
Whenever we heard the song
'Cause there's many ways that you can interpret this song
We've learned, in the interviews that we've done
Some people's minds are really in the gutter, and then others are
Where mine went, which is, when I was in college
I went to school about forty miles, forty-five miles outside of Nashville
And there was a lot to do in that town, but, but
Going to Nashville you had better restaurants, you had better nightlife
All of that, and so if you ever got asked out on a date
And they drove you those forty-five miles to get to Nashville
You knew that they liked you
Because that's a lot of gas money when you're in college
Damn, you took me downtown, like to Nashville, downtown Nashville
Not downtown Murphy's Burrow, like you know
Those were fun years, I wasn't there, you know for very long
I was there for two and a half years, but
But it took me back to that college time
It was, it was one that we were like
Me and Charles were all about it, Hillary was nervous about it
She was a little on the fence about it
'Cause like, I don't know if I can pull this off
