How Come You Never Go There - Spotify Interview
That song was uh-, I wrote it acoustically, really quiet and slow, like much slower
But you kind of can see when you're making an entire album
What, what pieces of-, what the puzzle are potentially missing
And you know, sonically
I had a Cicadas And Gulls which is really quiet
And I had Burden Each Other and Undiscovered First
Which are kind of epic avalanches
But there wasn't much in, in terms of just like sit back
And just relax and, and, and nothing scary is going to happen in these four minutes
And, umm, and so basically I, I took the track to the guys
And that's the only one that we arranged in Big Sur in the studio
Where I threw them the song and said I was going to record the solo
But I don't think there needs to be another solo song on this record
So what can the four of us come up with?
And umm, and so that arrangement was born
And it was born of everyone switching instruments because Brian Le Barton plays drums
And Maki moved to the bass
And umm, and it was the second time we ever tried to play it
They learned the song and then we just improvised what it could be
And that was, that's what that song is
But you kind of can see when you're making an entire album
